You can sum it all up in one sentence: Climate change research has been plagued since the days of hysterical fears of imminent cooling in the 1970s, by design problems, misuse of research data (both positive and negative with adjustments to raw data without explanation, and adjustments made to the adjustments — all without any justification whatsoever — and, the substitution of data without any disclosure of the questionable gimmicks being employed, together with the knowing corruption and outright loss of raw data without accountability of any kind), poor statistics, small samples, unverifiable computer models constructed using questionable time-invariant climate parameters and reductionist mathematics, and a sycophantic culture of interrelated, self-reinforcing, self-serving, self-appointed gurus — elevated far above their competence for ideological reasons — who idolize and memorialize superstitious preconceptions, indulge in flawed conclusion and hucksterism, and proselytize their politically-correct voodoo pathological climate science (likened by some outside Western academia to the science of ancient astrology), all while self-righteously opposing with cannonades of denigration the accomplishments and observations of serious scientific skeptics and an ever-growing number of global warming heretics of self-defeating AGW theory and eco-terrorism.
How much longer will it take for Western Leftists to admit that it is not altruism to consign the third world to an energy-deprived existence of misery, poverty and death? The AGW hoax of the Leftist-libs tramples on the rights of man and all secular, socialist bureaucrats that continue to facilitate the hoax and scare tactics of global warming alarmism belong under an oversize picture of Mao and should have Castro and Chavez on speed dial to share their philosophy. The Leftists-libs hated Bush because he blocked Kyoto just like the lone man in China who stood in front of a column of commie tanks at Tiananmen Square in 1989.
Humans have always feared climate change and developed myths that our sinfulness is its cause. Accordingly, we always want to be able “to do something” about climate, to sacrifice to the Earth to bring about a golden age of climate stability. Unfortunately, both geology and history show us that the idea of a stable climate is untenable; there has never been, and never will be, a stable climate under human control. All we can do is adapt to constant change.
Our current obsession with the single factor of carbon dioxide emissions is little different. In a system as complex and chaotic as climate, actions with just one factor out of the thousands involved may even trigger unexpected consequences. It is vital to remember that, for such a coupled, non-linear, chaotic system, not doing something (i.e., not emitting gases) is as unpredictable as doing something (i.e., emitting gases). Even if we closed down every factory, crushed every car and aeroplane, turned off all energy production, and threw 4 billion people worldwide out of work, climate would still change, and often dramatically. Unfortunately, we would all be too poor to do anything about it.
Basing policies on worries about `global warming’ is a serious threat to us all, but especially to the 1.6 billion people in the less-developed world who have no access to any modern form of energy. The twin curses of water poverty and energy poverty remain the true scandals. By contrast, the political imposition on the rest of the world of our Northern, self-indulgent ecochondria about `global warming’ could prove to be a neo-colonialism too far. (Philip Stott)
There are simple explanations for everything we see. And mostly, the simple explanations are the right explanations.
For example, there is simple reason why we see a difference between the surface temperature trends that global warming alarmists use to fuel the politics of fear, and the lower tropopsheric temperature trends–based on very accurate satellite data–that show no warming trend.
The differential is a “systematic warm bias” that, according to Roger Pielke, Sr., “remains in the analysis of long term surface temperature trends.” Meanwhile, the oceans that store heat continue to cool.
The Earth has been in a cooling trend for a decade and the oceans have been cooling since 2002 with no end to the cooling in sight, according to Dr. Spencer. And as Dr. Pielke, Senior observed, in a period when the oceans are cooling there is no warming during that period.
Climate change has to be broken down into three questions: ‘Is climate changing and in what direction?’ ‘Are humans influencing climate change, and to what degree?’ And: ‘Are humans able to manage climate change predictably by adjusting one or two factors out of the thousands involved?’ The most fundamental question is: ‘Can humans manipulate climate predictably?’ Or, more scientifically: ‘Will cutting carbon dioxide emissions at the margin produce a linear, predictable change in climate?’ The answer is ‘No’. In so complex a coupled, non-linear, chaotic system as climate, not doing something at the margins is as unpredictable as doing something. This is the cautious science; the rest is dogma.
