The Great American Election of 2012 is evocative of history’s clarion call about what could have been and futures lost…
The results of Frankenvote is telling America its 200 years is well behind and the future is predictable―e.g., California and the EU headed to bankruptcy, Big Bird selling Hot World Syndrome to the children and a culture-wide estrangement from foundational principles that protect the individual and society from moral decay.
So… what does happen next?
A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years. ―Alexis de Tocqueville
Let’s say it out loud, Western academia and the anti-Americanism of the UN and dead and dying Old Europe are the systemic causation underlying global warming. Leftist ideology represents a systemic divergence from the principles of individual liberty, personal responsibility and a systemic acceptance of behaviors outside traditional morals and ethics that prize honor, ingenuity, productivity and accountability. Outside the West there are no fears about runaway global warming, people do not look to secular, socialist schoolteachers as saviors of the world and climatology is likened to the ancient science of astrology. What is needed is a change in global politics beginning right here at home with energy independence and a smaller government that respects individual liberty over consensus and free enterprise over socialism.
I have been asked to talk about what I consider the most important challenge facing mankind, and I have a fundamental answer. The greatest challenge facing mankind is the challenge of distinguishing reality from fantasy, truth from propaganda. Perceiving the truth has always been a challenge to mankind, but in the information age (or as I think of it, the disinformation age) it takes on a special urgency and importance. ―Michael Crichton
When we consider the society-wide and politically correct issue of human-caused global warming (AGW), we are not dealing with the physical world at all. By simply naming it, the Left created the needed crisis to begin with. And, thus the crisis of AGW — fear created for the purposes of arguing against capitalism – was created out of whole cloth and relies on magic formulae like climate sensitivity to support it.
After naming it then the argument follows as night follows day—e.g., as follows: claims based first on belief by a select group of experts; and, after that simply what are deemed to be obvious facts as a matter of common sense; to an unassailable logical deduction of a expert culture; to the unquestioned objective reality of a class of effete snobs in Western civilization who in their hubris anoint their own thoughts as representative of a worldwide view of all things related to climate change.
What we see, according to Habermas, is what ‘follows from the structure of speech itself,’ from which grows their belief in the object of their argument such that, ‘expressions of subjectivity are liberated from social restraints.’ What we see is the birth of, ‘the autonomous logic,’ of the climate specialists–implying some expert competence–as they go about their unproductive practices of promoting global warming funny business and the politics of deep climate disruption and disastrous climate change catastrophism.
So too, reason becomes a matter of affiliation and a consequence of consensus among a self-reinforcing group of experts and specialists such that, according to Habermas, ‘communicative reason finds its criteria in the argumentative procedures for directly or indirectly redeeming claims to propositional truth, normative rightness, subjective authenticity and aesthetic harmony.’
I am thoroughly sick of politicized so-called facts that simply aren’t true. It isn’t that these “facts” are exaggerations of an underlying truth. Nor is it that certain organizations are spinning their case to present it in the strongest way. Not at all–what more and more groups are doing is putting out is lies, pure and simple. Falsehoods that they know to be false. ~Michael Crichton
