The Left a Man-Made Disaster?

When disaster strikes it takes more not less energy. Why would the Left cause a man-made disaster by making what you need in a disaster more expensive?

We’ve seen what turning away from Individualism has caused. Self-Initiative and Personal Responsibility have been replaced by the inertia of a corrupt consensus… “How the Left thrives by substituting negative ads and nasty political rumors for genuine political debate.” ~Brad Miner

We are currently suffering from an American-deficiency — more not less of what America stood for and what has been right about America is what has uplifted humanity. Look at Iran since 1979… the people there lost their freedom going on 40 years. Europe turned away from Americanism. How’s that going for them? Leftists and the MSM carried a pogrom out against George Bush for eight years. But being a Leftist means never having to say you’re sorry; and, look what has happened to the country: division, a liberal fascism.

A pogrom against self-reliance is a Leftist phenomenon that Emerson would get a good chuckle over today. The Left’s faith in the wisdom of the village always turns into telling someone else what to think. It’s a shovel-ready government program. Naming weather events has now become a shovel-ready program: a Department of Naming and establishing regulations for the official naming of whirlwinds, tempests, squalls and… what next? Really cloudy days? The government bureaucrat’s penchant for turning cash into clunkers is no surprise but its outright contempt for the limitless power of the individual should sound weak, weird and wicked to any philosopher.

“Ask nothing of men, and in the endless mutation, thou only firm column must presently appear the upholder of all that surrounds thee. He who knows that power is inborn, that he is weak because he has looked for good out of him and elsewhere, and so perceiving, throws himself unhesitatingly on his thought, instantly rights himself, stands in the erect position, commands his limbs, works miracles; just as a man who stands on his feet is stronger than a man who stands on his head.” (Emerson)

Let’s all just abandon reality altogether in favor rewriting history and letting others model our future. Philosopher Ayn Rand, for example, did not believe that it was an enlightened chauvinism that best served the needs of women. Rand believed in free will for everyone.

For Rand Self-Determination is real and there’s nothing smug about it. And where does that lead. For starters it means that although Rand was an atheist the Left still hates and marginalizes Rand and for ONE reason only:  Rand would choose Bush over Stalin every time.

And Rand would choose science over the superstition and ignorance of the masses every time too. Now that the nihilism of the Leftists and their liberal Utopianiam has reached its zenith in the West whatever once had value is now worthless and truth doesn’t matter anymore.

Who do you prefer George Washington or Mao Tse-Tung? Do you think the answer is simple?

■ If you are a Tibetan Buddhist monk, you prefer a God-fearing protector of personal and religious freedom like George Washington

■ If you are a tenured professor in liberal fascist academia, then Ward Churchill is more inspiring than Winston Churchill, the mass murderer Mao is your philosopher, and Bush-haters Castro and Chavez are your comrades.

George Bush opposed and beat Al Gore and refused to go along with Europe and the UN’s Kyoto Agreement and the Left’s global warming alarmism. Since then nature and American-made satellites have been on the side of Bush.

Satellites provide the most accurate data we have. Funny thing is, at the moment we were first able to accurately measure ocean temperatures, using satellites, global warming stopped. “We must face the fact that the earth is now cooling.” (Craig Loehle, “1,500-Year Climate Cycles, Broken Hockey Sticks, and Ocean Cooling,” Energy and Environment Vol. 20, 2009)

The Argos data that is collected aboard POES (Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellites ) tells us the oceans are cooling and have been for more than a decade (e.g., 2003–2008 data from Argo floats, we find  by four different algorithms that the recent trend ranges from –0.010 to –0.160 W/m2 with a typical error bar of ±0.2 W/m2). Some scientists predict global cooling for decades more–perhaps for the next 30 to 70 years.

The globe may experience another ice age before the end of the century. No one really knows. We could be on the precipice of another ice age now and we wouldn’t know that now–only looking back would we know where we were. The Earth has been locked in ice age conditions for more than 80% of the time over the last one million years.

There are three billion emerging capitalists in China, India and Brazil that would applaud the removal of America from the oil market, either instantly or gradually. And, why should anyone be advocating an abandonment of fossil fuels use except as a matter of personal preference? Obviously, such advocacy presupposes government control of the economy, which is of course the real dream state of the Leftists.

There is nothing realistic about ever expecting the AGW believers in America to reconsider nuclear. Secular, socialist, nuclear France is Ok with the American Left but the American Left is ideologically opposed to America having nuclear technology, preferring instead to pretend America’s energy needs can be met by wind and solar and quixotically… be more like secular, socialist France.

Nothing that Leftist politics does now — demonizing business and capitalism, apologizing for success, debasing the value of the dollar and keeping government employees fat at the expense of the productive — stops China, India, Brazil and etc. from doing what they see is in the interests of their people. Meeting those interests demands more energy of all types, not less energy, and less government not more government.

About Wagathon

Hot World Syndrome—fear of a hotter, more intimidating world than it actually is prompting a desire for more protection than is warranted by any actual threat. A Chance Meeting– We toured south along the Bicentennial Bike Trail in the Summer of 1980, working up appetites covering ~70 miles per day and staying at hiker/biker campgrounds at night along the Oregon/California coast (they were 50¢ a day at that time). The day's ride over, and after setting up tents, hitting the showers, and making a run to a close-by store, it was time to relax. The third in our little bicycle tour group, Tom, was about 30 yards away conversing with another knot of riders and treating himself to an entire cheesecake for dinner. He probably figured Jim and I would joke about what a pig he was eating that whole pie and decided to eat among strangers. Three hours later after sharing stories and remarking on a few coincidences that turned up here and there, Tom and one of the former strangers realized they were cousins, meeting in this most unlikely place for the first time. ~Mac

  1. Wagathon says:

Much like Monet’s “The Bridge over the Water-Lily Pond,” everything we prevent people from doing has consequences, especially when we act out of hatred, superstition and ignorance.

“Let’s think back to people in 1900 in, say, New York. If they worried about people in 2000, what would they worry about? Probably: Where would people get enough horses? And what would they do about all the horseshit? Horse pollution was bad in 1900, think how much worse it would be a century later, with so many more people riding horses?

But of course, within a few years, nobody rode horses except for sport. And in 2000, France was getting 80% its power from an energy source that was unknown in 1900. Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and Japan were getting more than 30% from this source, unknown in 1900. Remember, people in 1900 didn’t know what an atom was. They didn’t know its structure. They also didn’t know what a radio was, or an airport, or a movie, or a television, or a computer, or a cell phone, or a jet, an antibiotic, a rocket, a satellite, an MRI, ICU, IUD, IBM, IRA, ERA, EEG, EPA, IRS, DOD, PCP, HTML, internet. interferon, instant replay, remote sensing, remote control, speed dialing, gene therapy, gene splicing, genes, spot welding, heat-seeking, bipolar, prozac, leotards, lap dancing, email, tape recorder, CDs, airbags, plastic explosive, plastic, robots, cars, liposuction, transduction, superconduction, dish antennas, step aerobics, smoothies, twelvestep, ultrasound, nylon, rayon, teflon, fiber optics, carpal tunnel, laser surgery, laparoscopy, corneal transplant, kidney transplant, AIDS… None of this would have meant anything to a person in the year 1900. They wouldn’t know what you are talking about.”

  2. Why anyone not abandon fossil fuel use unless it was for personal use or they made money from it?
