Global Warming — WHO MADE IT STOP?

Leonid_Meteor_Storm_1833-CropWhy did global warming stop? In a nutshell, we began by renaming natural climate change and called it a global emergency. We listened to the awesomeness of the United Nations as they demanded that all Americans place their faith in global warming specialists. It is these specialists who took the temperature of the entire globe and worked together to provide the remedy that was needed to stop it from warming. President George Bush (43rd President of the United States of America from 2001 to 2009) refused to go along. It could have been bad. Instead, now we learn that global temperatures have fallen and no one believes just having red lights on and sirens blaring is all it took to stop it.

In 2009 the BBC took a truth pill and admitted it, that back then, “Average temperatures have not increased for over a decade.” We are at 16 years now and going on 20 with no end to the cooling in sight. The UN’s warming specialists never did anything but declare the entire time that something was warming the globe and humanity’s fingerprints were all over it; and, they predicted the warming would continue and get worse.

We can now stop taxing ourselves into economic ruin simply to keep the UN warming specialists in fresh diapers. Maybe it’s time the rest of the world just got back to the business of living since now we know: we may indeed be in a period of cooling, not warming. Back when the BBC had its come to Jesus moment, UN-IPCC member Mojib Latif’s concession to reality was that another 10-20 years of cooling was possible. Of course, nature couldn’t give two schitts about what the UN specialists believe.

Naturally, warming or no warming, the lunatic cheerleaders of the global warming doomsday movement will continue to quote themselves and refuse to admit even simple facts and nothing will stop them from pushing their beliefs in public classrooms that America is bad for the world. How about we stop that?

The real problem is Leftist thinking and why they deny faith and hope and feel threatened by the successes of others. It is why global warming alarmists deny the sun and why the future of humanity they see are models of a world comprised only of black carbon.

Underling secular socialism is a poverty of spirit and belief in the worthlessness of all humanity. The Left believes everything has been said, every good idea has been had, and patented, every flavor tasted, every song written, played and sung. There’s nothing new to be thought. Self-defeating attitudes motivate the Left’s ill will toward everything that everyone else wants to do: China can’t have cars, Africa can’t be free, Capitalism doesn’t work, there are too many people — many of them will have to go — and, those that survive must be more miserable than preceding generations.

I studied anthropology in college, and one of the things I learned was that certain human social structures always reappear. They can’t be eliminated from society. One of those structures is religion. Today it is said we live in a secular society in which many people-the best people, the most enlightened people-do not believe in any religion. But I think that you cannot eliminate religion from the psyche of mankind. If you suppress it in one form, it merely re-emerges in another form. You can not believe in God, but you still have to believe in something that gives meaning to your life, and shapes your sense of the world. Such a belief is religious.

Today, one of the most powerful religions in the Western World is environmentalism. Environmentalism seems to be the religion of choice for urban atheists. Why do I say it’s a religion? Well, just look at the beliefs. If you look carefully, you see that environmentalism is in fact a perfect 21st century remapping of traditional Judeo-Christian beliefs and myths.

There’s an initial Eden, a paradise, a state of grace and unity with nature, there’s a fall from grace into a state of pollution as a result of eating from the tree of knowledge, and as a result of our actions there is a judgment day coming for us all. We are all energy sinners, doomed to die, unless we seek salvation, which is now called sustainability. Sustainability is salvation in the church of the environment. Just as organic food is its communion, that pesticide-free wafer that the right people with the right beliefs, imbibe.

Eden, the fall of man, the loss of grace, the coming doomsday-these are deeply held mythic structures. They are profoundly conservative beliefs. They may even be hard-wired in the brain, for all I know. I certainly don’t want to talk anybody out of them, as I don’t want to talk anybody out of a belief that Jesus Christ is the son of God who rose from the dead. But the reason I don’t want to talk anybody out of these beliefs is that I know that I can’t talk anybody out of them. These are not facts that can be argued. These are issues of faith.

And so it is, sadly, with environmentalism. Increasingly it seems facts aren’t necessary, because the tenets of environmentalism are all about belief. It’s about whether you are going to be a sinner, or saved. Whether you are going to be one of the people on the side of salvation, or on the side of doom. Whether you are going to be one of us, or one of them. ~Michael Crichton

Global warming alarmists should be eating crow. Skeptics are not crowing about a cooling trend. Skeptics know humanity is not causing the Earth to cool. Humanity cannot do anything to stop it. And, the same thing goes for global warming. We all will have to see what nature has in store for us.

[T]here are a large number of punters [Australian for “customers” or “gamblers”-in this case, skeptical customers who may or may not buy what the government’s selling] who object to being treated dismissively as stupid, who do not like being told what to think, who value independence, who resile from personal attacks and have life experiences very different from the urban environmental atheists attempting to impose a new fundamentalist religion. Green politics have taken the place of failed socialism and Western Christianity and impose fear, guilt, penance, and indulgences onto a society with little scientific literacy. ~Ian Plimer

Free enterprise capitalism has brought opportunity, innovation, competition and many benefits to the public such as a higher quality of life and the satisfaction of working to bring value to society. All of this is opposed by Eurocommunism. Fears of global warming is just one of many tools that the Left employs to undermine capitalism to bring about their secular, socialist Utopia.

“Bad things happen all the time in life, but to live
your life fearful? That would suck.” ~Evelyn Stevens

About Wagathon

Hot World Syndrome—fear of a hotter, more intimidating world than it actually is prompting a desire for more protection than is warranted by any actual threat. A Chance Meeting– We toured south along the Bicentennial Bike Trail in the Summer of 1980, working up appetites covering ~70 miles per day and staying at hiker/biker campgrounds at night along the Oregon/California coast (they were 50¢ a day at that time). The day's ride over, and after setting up tents, hitting the showers, and making a run to a close-by store, it was time to relax. The third in our little bicycle tour group, Tom, was about 30 yards away conversing with another knot of riders and treating himself to an entire cheesecake for dinner. He probably figured Jim and I would joke about what a pig he was eating that whole pie and decided to eat among strangers. Three hours later after sharing stories and remarking on a few coincidences that turned up here and there, Tom and one of the former strangers realized they were cousins, meeting in this most unlikely place for the first time. ~Mac
