The Early Days of the Global Warming Industry

Wag on...

but now… we may be in a cooling trend!

Facts are facts: first, there has been no global warming going on 20 years; and, satellite data now tells us there has been global cooling over the last 5 years. Antarctica is getting bigger not smaller. Climate science has been politicized. Climate scientists have engaged in exaggerated claims and outright fraud since the ’90s and have been wrong on just about everything.

The research challenges the conclusions of other studies, including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) 2013 report, which says that Antarctica is overall losing land ice… The extra snowfall that began 10,000 years ago has been slowly accumulating on the ice sheet and compacting into solid ice over millennia, thickening the ice in East Antarctica and the interior of West Antarctica by an average of 0.7 inches (1.7 centimeters) per year. This small thickening, sustained over thousands of years and spread over the vast expanse of these sectors of Antarctica, corresponds to a very large gain of ice – enough to outweigh the losses from fast-flowing glaciers in other parts of the continent and reduce global sea level rise. (Latest NASA Research)

“Annual snow accumulation increased in the early 20th century, rising 30 percent between 1900 and 2010,” according to the AGU (Amer. Geophysical Union) and BAS (British Antarctic Survey) when describing the findings of the new study. “The study’s authors found that in the last 30 years of the study, the ice sheet gained nearly 5 meters (16 feet) more water than it did during the first 30 years of the studied time period.” The lead author of the study, BAS’ Elizabeth Thomas says that based on the 300 year long record, “we can see that the amount of snow that has been accumulating in this region since the 1990s is the highest we have seen in the last 300 years.”

In other words, the more we learn the more we see that everything is unusual compared to what the global warming alarmists predict. What is normal is that we cannot predict the weather and by extension, the climate. Nothing is as simple in the real world as it is in the digital world of the climate models that the Left uses to blame humanity and modernity for heating up the globe (the AGW hypothesis).

Hopefully the polar bears will make it if a cold snap blankets the Arctic. And, what about all of the claims made by global warming alarmists about Earth’s species in peril? A recent study in Nature by Fangliang and Hubbell found that, “Species–area relationships always overestimate extinction rates from habitat loss.”

Previous estimates of extremely high extinction rates, – for example, one species per hour to one species a day, 33–50% of all species between the 1970s and 2000, from half to several million species by 2000 or 50% of species by 2000 – have not been observed. (Ibid.)

If humanity actually is responsible for causing an extinction in the modern era it will have to be the 6th extinction because there already have been 5 major extinctions on Earth before any people were around to cut down and burn a single log. If we are ever able to predict species extinction rates on Earth it will only be when we can appreciate change wrought by inevitable natural climate change ebbs and flows and accept to our chagrin that humanity is not the cause.

Unfortunately, despite social chaos that the global warming establishment has helped create, they “cannot or will not face-up to the fact that they have picked the wrong horse to bet their future scientific reputations upon,” observed Dr. Bill Gray. “The older warmers are now too far down the AGW road to be able to gracefully extricate themselves.  Other warmers may feel that their prestige-enhancements and the governmental funding rewards they have gotten have been worth it — even if their warming alarms are later proven wrong.”

Western academia has the idea they can save the world by lying to the public and labeling those who exercise legitimate scientific skepticism as deniers, as if demanding accurate data and climate models that really work are tantamount to questioning the holocaust. They call AGW a theory but that is nothing more or less than dogmatism hiding under the false colors of science.

Real scientists have a duty to be skeptical when they witness a diviner pointing down while waving a dousing rod and proclaiming, “there’s water right here!” There may well be water right there if you dig deep enough and knowledge of the surrounding area may lead you to believe finding water in that very spot is likely. Nevertheless, a healthy suspicion of beliefs based on nothing but witchcraft, superstition, feelings, moods, political correctness, fear, mental disorders, religion or hockey stick flimflammery is not dogmatism, it’s science.

Who’s unaware global warming is a Left vs. right issue
and therefore more political than scientific?

About Wagathon

Hot World Syndrome—fear of a hotter, more intimidating world than it actually is prompting a desire for more protection than is warranted by any actual threat. A Chance Meeting– We toured south along the Bicentennial Bike Trail in the Summer of 1980, working up appetites covering ~70 miles per day and staying at hiker/biker campgrounds at night along the Oregon/California coast (they were 50¢ a day at that time). The day's ride over, and after setting up tents, hitting the showers, and making a run to a close-by store, it was time to relax. The third in our little bicycle tour group, Tom, was about 30 yards away conversing with another knot of riders and treating himself to an entire cheesecake for dinner. He probably figured Jim and I would joke about what a pig he was eating that whole pie and decided to eat among strangers. Three hours later after sharing stories and remarking on a few coincidences that turned up here and there, Tom and one of the former strangers realized they were cousins, meeting in this most unlikely place for the first time. ~Mac
